چکیده

Background The latissimus dorsi flap (LDF) is the most commonly used autologous for breast reconstruction (BR) in China. We conducted this study to explore current status of BR using LDF with/without implants. Methods This was a single-center retrospective that included tumor patients who underwent at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) between 2000 and 2021. Results analyzed 4918 postmastectomy BR, including 1730 (35.2%) with flaps. 1093 (22.2%) patients, an abdominal 637 (13.0%) patients. proportion LDFs decreased each year dropped approximately 65.0% after 2013 due increased use Among these 609 extended (ELDF) 455 implants, 30 received as salvage previous or implant failure. Patients ELDF were older had higher BMI than those There no significant difference mean postoperative hospital stay, neoadjuvant chemotherapy rates, adjuvant radiotherapy rates two groups. Major complications requiring surgical intervention occurred 25 (2.29%). incidence major groups ( P =0.542). Conclusions well-developed safe procedure. duration hospitalization nor affected by use.

Breast reconstruction using a latissimus dorsi flap after mastectomy.

INTRODUCTION The latissimus dorsi (LD) myocutaneous flap has long been regarded as the second choice flap for autologous breast reconstruction following a mastectomy in our department. Despite uncertainty about donor-site morbidity, it is regarded as a relatively safe procedure; moreover, in contrast to our first choice, the deep inferior epigastric perforator flap, no microsurgical expertise i...

Functional Morbidity Following Latissimus Dorsi Flap Breast Reconstruction

According to the National Institutes of Health, more than 230,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2014 alone. Following mastectomy, several reconstructive options exist for women with breast cancer. The timing and approach for reconstruction must be addressed rapidly. Although abdominal tissue transfer is described as the preferred method, it may not be best suited to all patien...

Comparison of morbidity-related seroma formation following conventional latissimus dorsi flap versus muscle-sparing latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction

PURPOSE The pedicled, descending-branch muscle-sparing latissimus dorsi (MSLD) flap has been widely used for breast reconstruction following total mastectomy. However, the superiority of the MSLD flap compared to the conventional latissimus dorsi (CLD) flap in preventing seroma formation has not been demonstrated. This study compares the morbidities related to seroma formation following pedicle...

Latissimus Dorsi Myocutaneous Flap for Breast Reconstruction: Bad Rap or Good Flap?

OBJECTIVE This article serves to review latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap as an option for breast reconstruction postmastectomy. Since the introduction of the latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap in the late 1970s, its use has always been as a secondary technique, particularly after the development of the transverse rectus abdominus myocutaneous flap in the 1980s. METHODS A literature review o...

Breast Reconstruction following Breast-conserving Surgery with a Subcutaneous Tissue Expander and Latissimus Dorsi Flap

SUMMARY Corrective surgery following breast-conserving surgery is generally challenging due to severe fibrosis induced by postoperative radiotherapy. Although use of the latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap offers a safe and reliable option, exposure of the skin paddle to the skin surface is often inevitable to achieve correction of nipple-areola complex malposition, leaving conspicuous, patchwor...
